Decision Date: April 4, 2022
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Emma Moore
Student Email: 17epm4@queensu.ca
Course: ARTH 410
Term: Fall
Year: 2021
Category: Request credit (CR) standing in a course or courses
Instructor: Antonia Behan
Dear Emma:
I am sorry to have read in your letter the challenges you experienced during Fall term which impacted your participation in ARTH 410 (F 2021). After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the circumstances outlined, I have decided to grant your appeal for Credit standing.
Your grade in ARTH 410 (F 2021) will appear on your transcript as CR.
Emma, I do need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, I encourage you to continue to work with your health care team and to consider registering with QSAS if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor to help manage your health and academic so you will be able to attend class.
Going forward, you should pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Best of luck in your courses this term.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
