I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GPHY 101 and STAT 361 (F21) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
I acknowledge that you experienced an injury and a health-related extenuating circumstance during the 2021 Fall term, but I want you to know that the integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
I am sympathetic to your situation and recognize that this is a disappointing decision however, the documentation that you supplied does not provide enough information related to the academic impacts of these circumstances to merit the waiving of an academic regulation. The documentation that you submitted dated October 29 confirms that your health issue was being treated but it does not mention the timeline or severity of the impacts on your academics at that time. The documentation that you supplied dated November 17 suggests a treatment plan but does not suggest any impacts to your academics at that time.
Going forward, I suggest that you pause to evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
