I have carefully considered your appeal for a Aegrotat Standing in HIST 211 and POLS 348 (F21). After reviewing your file and the information that I received from your instructors, I have decided the following:
To deny your request for Aegrotat Standing in HIST 211 and POLS 348 (F21). Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60% of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)?. The information that I received from your instructors indicates that you had not completed 60% of the work in either of these courses and that you did not meet the learning outcomes in POLS 348 based on the components that were completed. Therefore, you are not eligible for this academic appeal option.
I understand that this is a disappointing decision, however, due to the severity and impacts of your extenuating circumstances on these courses, as confirmed within your supporting documentation, I am willing to allow you the opportunity to complete the remaining outstanding components in both of these courses. Your instructors have graciously agreed to accept the outstanding work with a new deadline of August 31, 2022. If you choose to accept this offer, it is your responsibility to connect with both instructors to make the arrangements.
Alternately, I will allow you to drop HIST 211 and POLS 248 (F21) after the academic deadline as I acknowledge that your academic ability was impacted during the Fall term. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
