Dear Mia Popelas:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100, SOCY 122 (FW2021/2022) and WRIT 125 (W22) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal due to the timeline and severity of your extenuating circumstances and the impacts that they have had on your academic ability this term, as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied. I would suggest that when you return to your studies, you consider registering with Queen??s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) so that you can work with a counsellor to manage the impacts of your health on your academics going forward.
I also suggest that you pause to evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
