Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Cole Baker
Student Email: 17cb51@queensu.ca

Course: ECON 490
Term: Fall
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Cole:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you had a difficult Fall term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 490 (F 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and documentation but going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your health or life circumstances on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Cole, I noticed that you are relying heavily on Academic Consideration to manage deadlines on a regular basis and I suggest that you contact QSAS to seek assistance from that support service. You can discuss with them the possibility of putting in place ongoing accommodations that can help support your health and academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
