Dear Sian:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you had a difficult term and are continuing to struggle due to the difficult circumstances outlined. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 234 and MUSC 211 (W 2022) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the??documentation provided which notes that you are working with Barb Lotan from the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response office and I trust you will continue to do so as needed.

Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Sian, I strongly encourage you continue to work with Ms. Lotan and to proactively manage the impact of your circumstances on your academics.
