Dear Tom Morton:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHIL 157 (W21), and MUSC 156 (F21) after the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in COGS 100, HLTH 102 (W21) and PSYC 100 (FW 2020/2021). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

To grant your request to drop PHIL 157 (W21), and MUSC 156 (F21) after the academic deadline. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript. Going forward, it is your responsibility to evaluate your academic progress during Week 7 of each term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in, or in which you find the material too difficult, by the Week 8 drop deadline.

To deny your request for Credit Standing in COGS 100, HLTH 102 (W21) and PSYC 100 (FW 2020/2021). Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower?.

I am sympathetic to your situation and understand that this is a difficult decision however, the information that I received from your instructors of HLTH 102 and PSYC 100 indicates that you did not meet the learning outcomes of these classes and I want to remind you that you did not pass the final exam in COGS 100 and so are not eligible for Credit Standing in it.
