Year: 2022
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Talia Lewis:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 250 and MATH 110 (FW 2021/2022) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as students were made aware of the return to in-person study date during the 2021 Fall term so the change from remote to on-campus was not unexpected. I have granted this appeal due to the timeline and impact of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied.

Going forward, I suggest that you pause to evaluate your academic progress before the drop deadline of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
