I have carefully considered your appeal for Aegrotat Standing in ENGL 162 (W22). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60% of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)?.
I acknowledge that you were impacted with an extenuating circumstance near the end of the Winter 2022 term that impacted your ability to complete a 2% onQ quiz however, the information that I received from your instructor indicates that you had not also completed four in-class quizzes prior to that time.
I understand that this is a disappointing decision, and I am sympathetic to your situation however as your appeal didn??t demonstrate the impacts of an extenuating circumstance that correlates to all of the missed components in this class, I cannot grant an Aegrotat estimated grade in it. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
