Dear Lauren,

I am sorry to have read in your appeal letter the challenges you experienced during Winter term 2022 and I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in ANAT 316 to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the circumstances outlined and the documentation submitted, as well as the information supplied by the instructor about the learning outcomes achieved in this course, I have decided to grant your appeal.

Your grade in ANAT 316 (W 2022) will appear on your transcript as CR.

Lauren, I encourage you to reach out to our Student Wellness Service who offer free counselling to students and they may be able to offer some support during this time of grief. Going forward I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Best of luck with your future goals.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
