Dear Anna Zimmermann:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHYS 117 (FW 2021/2022) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal due to the severity and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you had supplied. Going forward, I suggest that you pause to evaluate your academic progress before week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in before the week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I also suggest that you consider registering with Queen??s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) so that you can work with an Accessibility Advisor to help you manage the impacts of your health on your academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
