I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in PHYS 117 (FW2021/2022) After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower?.
I am sympathetic to your situation and understand that this is a difficult decision however, I want you to know that exam-related stress is not considered an extenuating circumstance as many students experience this every term. According to the information that I received from your instructor, you had successful completed all components of this course with the exception of the final exam. I recognize that you experienced an unexpected health issue in April however you chose to write the final exam despite this circumstance. I want to remind you that it was your responsibility to utilize appropriate academic options such as Academic Consideration to request a deferral of an exam as it is never recommended that a student write an exam while they are unwell.
