I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 130 (W22) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond their control.
I acknowledge that you didn??t complete any components of this course during the 2022 Winter term however, the information that I received from your instructor indicates that you did access the onQ site multiple times since you enrolled in the course back in August of 2021. I understand that this is a difficult decision and I want to remind you that it is the student??s responsibility to follow their schedule in SOLUS and to drop courses that they don??t intend to complete before the academic deadline.
If you are concerned about how this grade is affecting your GPA, I want to remind you that if a student repeats a course, both grades will appear on their transcript but only the higher grade will be included within their cumulative GPA.
