I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 101 (W22) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond their control.
I acknowledge that you experienced technical difficulties during the final exam of the course however you were provided with the instructions on how to navigate these types of issues at that time. I want to remind you of Academic Regulation 8.4.3. Interrupted Exam Policy https://www.queensu.ca/academic-calendar/arts-science/academic-regulations/. As your instructor determined that your exam attempt was valid, I cannot grant this request.
If you are concerned about how this grade is affecting your GPA, I want to remind you that if a student repeats a course, both grades will appear on their transcript but only the higher grade will be included within their cumulative GPA.
