Dear Chao Zhuo Xie:

I have carefully considered your appeal for Aegrotat Standing in MATH 382, STAT 353, and MATH 337 (W22). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.

I acknowledge that you experienced an illness in March that impacted your ability to complete the final components of these classes however the information that I received from your instructors indicate that you did not successfully complete all components in these classes prior to this illness.

I am sympathetic to your situation and understand that this is a disappointing decision, however ). I want to remind you that Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60% of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)? With the absence of documentation to correlate the impacts of an extenuating circumstance on all of your missed components in these classes, I cannot grant this request.

I am happy to report that the instructor of MATH 382 has offered an extension of your final project to August 17, 2022 at the latest. The instructor of STAT 353 has offered a deferred final exam during the current Summer term and is willing to re-weight this component to include the missed midterm. The instructor of MATH 337 will also allow you to complete the final exam during the current Summer term. I would suggest that you connect with each of your instructors as soon as possible so that you can make the appropriate arrangements to complete these courses.
