I was sorry to read of the challenges you report that would make completing your degree at Queen??s difficult and I have carefully considered your appeal seeking permission to take the balance of your courses on an International Letter of Permission. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
William, this decision is not meant to be harsh but Academic Regulation 16.1.3 notes that the maximum number of units a student can transfer is 24.0 units towards their Plan, and since you require 42.0 units in total, with 12.0 of those units expected to be completed at Queen??s, you would still exceed the maximum number of units allowed (30.0). When a student earns a Queen??s degree, it is important that the courses taken do not exceed the limits set by the Faculty so that the integrity of the degree is maintained.
While your letter of appeal reports concerns related to completing your degree at Queen??s, the appeal did not demonstrate to me that exceeding the number of transfer units is warranted.
