Dear Maya:

I was sorry to read of the extenuating circumstances which you outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your request to for Aegrotat standing in LLCU 395 (Indigenous History of Film), LLCU 395 (Indigenous Changing Landscapes), and GNDS 215 (W 2022). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1. To grant your request to receive Aegrotat standing in GNDS 215 based on your extenuating circumstances, your documentation, and the input received from your instructor confirming the learning outcomes were achieved. Your grade in that course will be a B+ with a notation indicating it is an estimated grade.

2. To deny your request for Aegrotat standing in LLCU 395 (Indigenous History of Film). The instructor of the Indigenous History of Film advised that he has already adjusted the grade from a failing grade to a passing grade based on your participation but further adjustments to the grade is not appropriated due to the learning outcomes achieved. The current D grade will stand.??

3. To deny your request for Aegrotat standing in LLCU 395 (Indigenous Changing Landscapes) since 70% of the course work has not been completed so the learning outcomes have not been achieved. I am however willing to drop this course late due to your documented extenuating circumstances. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days.

Going forward, I strongly suggest that you continue to work with your health care team and to pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of term. If you have fallen behind in your studies due to your health or other extenuating circumstances, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline date.
