I have carefully considered your appeal to waive the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
Given your circumstances, I will also drop ENSC 103 (F 2021); ARTH 120, POLS 110 (FW 2021/22); HIST 109 (W 2022) past the academic drop deadline as well as grant you Credit in HIST 108 (F 2021). Credit standing means you get credit for the course, but the current grade of D will be changed to a CR on your transcript and will not negatively impact your GPA. Your grades in the courses I will drop, will be changed to DRs on your transcript which will also have a positive impact on your GPA and remove the Requirement to Withdraw ruling. You may now continue with your studies.
As you continue in your course of study it is your responsibility to take steps for the successful completion of your program and maintain a GPA consistent with the requirements of your plan. These are some strategies that I strongly encourage you to consider:

?? Reflect on your program choice. Are you in the right plan/set of courses for your interests and aptitudes?
?? Register with QSAS.
?? Seek out the advice necessary to improve your academic performance. Academic counselling is available through your Plan department, or you can book an appointment with an advisor in the Faculty of Arts and Science Student Services Office. ?? The Student Academic Success Service (https://sass.queensu.ca/) also provides a range of services, including workshops designed to improve study skills and develop strategies for meeting the demands of academic life.
?? The Student Wellness Services Centre https://www.queensu.ca/studentwellness/ located in Mitchell Hall, is available free of charge to all Queen??s students. SWS offers personal counselling as well as individual consultation to aid in coping with difficulties of a more personal nature.
?? Academic Consideration is a process for the university community to provide a compassionate response to assist students experiencing a short-term extenuating circumstance. You can familiarize yourself with your consideration options at: https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/accommodations .
Going forward, you should be attentive to your progress and assess whether you are actively engaged and attending classes, completing your readings and assignments. If not, you should drop any courses in which you have fallen behind in by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter extenuating circumstances after week 8.
