I have carefully considered your appeal to add STAT 463 (F 2022) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be added on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under exceptional circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student??s ability to add a course within the deadline was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
The deadlines for adding courses have been designed and established in order to provide sufficient time for students to obtain the relevant permission, determine their interest in the course material, to consider their ability to handle each course, and to evaluate their overall workload.
Yuren, I can see you have experienced challenges, and your record indicates that adding a course late is not advisable based on your academic record. You are already enrolled in six courses (which exceeds our recommended five courses per term) and I am not convinced that adding this course late is a good academic decision and positions you for a successful term.
For your information, registration for our Summer term on-line courses begins on November 1st and I would encourage you to review the course offerings during that upcoming term if you wish to try and catch up on your courses.
