I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal, and I have carefully considered your request to drop HLTH 102 (W 2022) past the academic deadline and have decided to grant your request.
Based on the information and documentation presented in your appeal, I am also willing to grant you Credit standing in EMPR 110 and WRIT 120 as well. Credit standing would mean that your grades in those courses are changed to a CR on your transcript and the grades would no longer impact your GPA, but you would get credit for those courses. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future, if you resume your studies at Queen??s, you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
