Dear Gavin:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the challenges outlined, and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 214, FILM 308, FILM 337 and MAPP 311 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on??documentation provided which notes that during that time, you were working closely with your Psychotherapist.

I do see that you plan to graduate with your Bachelor of Arts General Degree Gavin and I congratulate you on that accomplishment. If you continue to take courses at Queen??s in the future, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to utilize, if you return to your studies, is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
