Dear Charles Mackinnon:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 222, PHIL 329 (F20), POLS 262 (W21), PHIL 206, PHIL 271, PHIL 263, PHIL 314 (F21), PHIL 318, PHIL 328, PHIL 351 (W22), PHIL 311, POLS 319 (S21) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I acknowledge that due to the nature of your extenuating circumstances, you were not able to connect with support services or make appropriate academic decisions during the terms that you are appealing from. I have granted this appeal due to the severity, timeline and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you had supplied. Going forward, I suggest that you pause to evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
