Dear Aaleen Baig:

I have carefully considered your academic petition to drop DEVS 210, DEVS 240, DEVS 250, DEVS 306 and POLS 244 (W22) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I acknowledge that you were absent from school during the 2022 Winter term and I have granted this petition due to the timeline of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied. As your documentation indicates that the impacts of your extenuating circumstances began in August of 2021, I will also drop DEVS 220, DEVS 280, FREN 107, POLS 230 and POLS 280 (F21) after the academic deadline with the warning that future petition requests for these same extenuating circumstances may not be as successful.

Upon your return to studies, I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen??s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) so that you can work with a counsellor to help manage the impact of your health on your academics. Going forward, it is your responsibility to evaluate your academic progress during Week 7 of each term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in, or in which you find the material too difficult, by the Week 8 drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
