I have carefully considered your academic petition for an Extension of an Incomplete Grade in CHEM 281 (F21), BCHM 270, HLTH 305, PHIL 301 (W22) and PHYS 117 (FW21/22). After reviewing your file and the information that I received from your instructors, I have decided the following:
1) To grant your request for an Extension of an Incomplete Grade in BCHM 270, HLTH 305 (W22), and PHYS 117 (FW21/22) as I acknowledge that you had academic consideration from February 17 ?? August 11, 2022 and the documentation that you supplied indicates that you were not able to attend school until October 17, 2022. You are permitted up to December 31, 2022 to complete the outstanding work and it is your responsibility to connect with Dr. Pruss, Dr. Fergus and Dr. Topper to make the appropriate arrangements.
2) To deny your request for an Extension of an Incomplete in CHEM 281 (F21) and PHIL 301 (W22). According to Academic Regulation 10.3.4 Incomplete (IN) states ??incomplete standing (IN) is a temporary designation reserved for a course in which a student who, because of extenuating circumstances beyond their control, has not completed all term work for a course or requests permission to defer the writing of a final examination. The student must have participated actively in the class and only one or two elements of the course work have not been completed. Students with extenuating circumstances who have been unable to complete the majority of the work in a class should consider a petition to drop a class after the deadline rather than requesting an incomplete grade in the class.?
The information that I received from your instructor of CHEM 281 indicates that you only completed 45% of the components in their class and have most of the course outstanding. The information that I received from your instructor of PHIL 301 indicates that you have 100% of this class outstanding and so I regret to inform you that you do not qualify for this petition option. As I acknowledge that you had academic consideration beginning in February of the Winter term and throughout the subsequent Summer term, I am willing to allow you to drop CHEM 281 (F21) and PHIL 301 (W22) instead. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 10 business days of receiving this decision letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
