Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Jonas Jacobson,

I have carefully considered your petition to drop FILM 240 (F22) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the continued academic impacts that you have been experiencing as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied. Going forward, you should pause to assess the impacts of extenuating circumstances on your academics during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I also suggest that you consider registering with Queen??s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you haven??t done so already, so that you can work with an Accommodation Advisor to help manage the impact of your health on your academics going forward.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
