Dear Tori Shin:

I have carefully considered your academic petition for credit standing in BIOL 103, PHAR 100 (W16), MATH 121 (FW15/16), and PHGY 170 (F16) and to drop MATH 121 (FW16/17) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1) To grant your request for credit standing in BIOL 103, PHAR 100 (W16) and MATH 121 (FW15/16) due to the timeline and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances. Your grades in these classes will be replaced with a ?CR?? notation on your transcript.

2) To deny your request for credit standing in PHGY 170 (F16) and to drop MATH 121 (FW16/17) after the academic deadline as the documentation that you supplied indicates that you had connected with the appropriate health care supports during the 2016 Winter term, before these courses had begun.

I acknowledge the information that you provided in your petition letter about your treatment taking time as you were adjusting to a chronic disability diagnosis however, I want to remind you that it is the students responsibility to assess their progress in each of their courses before the academic drop deadline and to drop impacted courses by such deadline. I certainly empathize with your situation and understand that this is a disappointing decision however petitions are not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition as it is the student??s responsibility to proactively manage the impact of their health on their courses.
