Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 9914
Decision Date: January 10, 2023
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Xinyuan Liang
Student Email: 18xl54@queensu.ca
Dear Xinyuan Liang,
Your request to apply for more than 6.0 units on an International Letter of Permission during the 2022 Fall/2023 Winter academic year has been approved on behalf of the Associate Dean (Academic).
As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that ??normally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen??s.? However, after reviewing your file, we see that you have taken 3.0 units of electives on an International Letter of Permission in the 2022 Fall term and we will allow you to take 6.0 units of electives at Chinese Culture University during the 2023 Winter term along with the 12.0 units of Queen??s courses that you are already enrolled in so that you can meet your requirements to graduate.
Please know that 18.0 units in one term is a heavy course load. Choosing to take more than the recommended number of classes does not constitute sufficient grounds to appeal to retroactively drop a class after the academic deadline, nor to request extensions of such drop deadlines
You may now apply for an International Letter of Permission through the International Programs Office. We would strongly suggest that you remain closely connected with this office so that you can be made aware of potential disruptions to your international studies if they happen.
Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the International Programs office upon completion of the courses. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.
Finally, please be advised that you are allowed to complete a maximum of 57.0 transfer units towards your BSC Honours degree (see Academic Regulation 16.1.3).
We wish you well in your international studies.
On behalf of
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
