I have carefully considered your petition to drop SOCY 225, SOCY 284, and SOCY 301 (F22) and for Credit Standing in PHIL 247 and SOCY 305 (F22). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:
To grant your request to drop SOCY 225, SOCY 284, SOCY 301 (F22) due to the timeline and severity of your extenuating circumstances in November of 2022. Your grades in these classes will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.
To grant your request for Credit Standing in PHIL 247 (F22) as the information that I received from your instructor indicates that you completed all of the components in this class and have met the learning outcomes in it. I acknowledge that your extenuating circumstances had an impact on your academic ability in this course and so your grade will be replaced with a CR notation on your transcript.
To deny your request for Credit Standing in SOCY 305 (F22) as you do not meet the requirements to be considered for this notation based on your grades in this class. As you know, Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 3.3.1.4. states that, Credit standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected.?
The information that I received from your instructor indicates that you did not complete all of the components in SOCY 305 (F22) including Short Exercises 4 ?? 7. Your instructor has also disclosed that your final calculated percentage based on the work that you did complete in this course was a 48.91%.
I understand that this is a disappointing decision but as I acknowledge the impacts from your extenuating circumstances during the 2022 Fall term, I am willing to allow you to drop SOCY 305 (F22) after the academic deadline instead. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this letter.
