I have carefully considered your petition to drop DEVS 220 (F22) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the supporting documentation that you supplied. Going forward, you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your classes during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Hannah, I want to remind you of your current academic standing. I see that you were put on probation in May of 2022 as your cumulative GPA was below 1.6 at that time. If you remain enrolled in all of your 2023 Winter term courses, your academic standing will be assessed again in May of 2023. If your GPA remains below 1.6 you may be required to withdraw from Queen??s for one year. Only students that attempt 18.0 units or more since their last assessment will be assessed for academic standing in May. A strategy that you may want to consider, is to reduce your Winter term course load by dropping courses so that your academic standing will not be assessed in May of 2023, and you will get one more academic year to work on boosting your GPA up to the 1.6 minimum. Please know that the academic deadline to drop Winter term courses is Friday, March 3rd.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
