I have carefully considered your petition to take more than 6.0 units of courses on an International Letter of Permission during the 2022/2023 academic year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
I acknowledge that you wanted to take 9.0 units of electives on an ILOP for the 2023 Winter term along with 9.0 units of your currently enrolled Queen??s courses however, I want to remind you that taking 18.0 units in one term is a very heavy course load. I have denied this request as I see that you have failed multiple classes during the past three terms and that your cumulative GPA is currently at 1.83 which is below the requirement for graduation.
As you know, courses transferred from other institutions are not included within the calculation of your Queen??s GPA and so I would suggest that you connect with an Academic Advisor at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergraduate/student-services/advising to create an academic plan so that you can complete your remaining degree requirements successfully at Queen??s.
Going forward, you should pause to evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your classes during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
