Dear Justin:

I am sorry to have read in your petition letter the challenges you outlined. I have carefully considered your request to drop BIOL 111 (W 2022); EMPR 210, ENIN 200, HLTH 230, MUSC 171 (F 2022) past the academic deadline due to the circumstances presented, and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Please note you cannot petition to drop the A side of a Fall/Winter term course, so POLS 110A will remain on your transcript with the NG (no grade) notation which has no impact on your GPA.

I have granted this petition since the treatment you have been getting hasn??t been completing effective, but going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Justin, I am pleased to see that you have registered in only one course this term which will give you time to focus on your health. I do strongly encourage you to continue to work with a health professional and to proactively manage the impact of your challenges on your academics. If you have not yet registered with QSAS, I encourage you to consider doing so since a QSAS??Advisor??can help put into place appropriate accommodations to help you manage the impact of your challenges on your academics.??
