I was sorry to read the challenges you outlined in your petition letter,and I have carefully considered your request to extend the Incomplete Grades in RELS 137 (W 2021); COMM 251 (S 2021); PHIL 247 (F 2021); FREN 150 (FW 2021/22); DEVS 392, DEVS 492 (W 2022). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
I have denied this petition because, according to Petition Regulation 3.3.1.5, a petition to extend an Incomplete grade (to submit incomplete work or to complete a deferred examination beyond one term) must be submitted prior to the deadline for the submission of incomplete work. Normally, the deadline for the submission of incomplete work is the end of one term after the course was taken.
Additionally, instructor input received indicates that there is a significant amount of work outstanding and not just one or two elements of course work left to be completed.
Based on the documentation presented however, I am willing to drop FREN 150 (FW 2021/22); DEVS 392; and DEVS 492 since that documentation indicates that you began working with Student Wellness Services in February 2022. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this decision letter and we will make the appropriate adjustments on your transcript.
Going forward, I strongly suggest that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
