Dear Samira Firouz,

I have reviewed your petition to drop DEVS 220 and WRIT 250 (F22) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this petition due to the academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Going forward, if you find that your extenuating circumstances continue to impact your courses, it is your responsibility to evaluate your academic progress before the drop deadline of the term and make sure to drop the course if you have fallen behind or find the material too difficult in it. The academic drop deadline for 2023 Winter term courses is March 3, 2023. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I also encourage you to meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss a plan to help you reach your academic goals. You can book this appointment through the Faculty of Arts and Science website at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergraduate/student-services/advising.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
