Dear Payton:

I am sorry to have read in your petition letter the challenges you outlined, and I have carefully considered your request to drop PHIL 257, PHIL 250 (FW 2022/23) and PHIL 256, PHIL 260, CLST 203 (W 2023) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

For your information, our office will process the late drops in your SOLUS account and no further action from you is required. Once dropped, the courses will appear as ??withdrawn? in your schedule and ??DR? notations will be placed on your transcript once the Winter term grades are released in May.

Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Payton, I strongly encourage you continue to work with a health professional and to proactively manage the impact of your condition on your academics.
