Dear Noah:

I am sorry to have read in your petition letter the challenges you outlined, and I have carefully considered your request to drop SOCY 122 (FW 2021/22) and POLS 355, HIST 228, POLS 348 (F 2022) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in POLS 328 (F 2022). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I am also willing to drop POLS 242 (W 2021) and POLS 210, POLS 242 (F 2021) since your accommodations were not in place at that time. Please email asc.petitions@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this letter if you wish to also drop those courses late as well.

Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
