Dear Ms. Hunt:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 292B, ENGL 293 and GNDS 215 (W 2015) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
Because your appeal requesting Credit standing in IDIS 210 was missed at the time your appeal was initially submitted, I have considered this request at this late date. After reviewing your appeal of January 2014 again, I have decided to grant this request. Your grade in IDIS 210 will appear on your transcript as CR.
Unfortunately, I must deny your request to receive Aegrotat standing in ENGL 200 (FW 2014/15). As you know, Academic Regulation 10.2.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 per cent of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all of the work of the course.€ The Appeal Regulations go on to stress that Aegrotat standing will only be granted under exceptional circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond her control.
While your appeal does describe some circumstances that are extenuating in nature and there is supporting documentation to confirm them, you have not completed enough work in ENGL 200 to be eligible for Aegrotat standing. Professor Dujardin confirmed that you have only completed 35 per cent of the required work. A minimum of 60 per cent of the course must be completed to be eligible for Aegrotat standing. However, given your circumstances I would be willing to allow you to drop ENGL 200 past the academic deadline instead. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision letter to confirm your request. Once it has been received we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
