I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your petition letter and understand that these were difficult circumstances to deal with. I have carefully considered your request to drop POLS 261 and LAW 201 (F 2022); receive Credit standing in POLS 250 (F 2022); as well as receive Aegrotat standing in COMM 231 (F 2022). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request to drop POLS 261 and LAW 201 (F 2022) after the drop deadline. Your grade in these courses will appear on your transcript as DR.
2. To grant your request for Credit standing in POLS 250 (F 2022). Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.
3. To deny your request for Aegrotat standing in COMM 231 (F 2022). The instructor has advised you did not complete the group work assignment and it is not clear how your circumstances prevented you from completing that assignment. Additionally, you did not attempt to contact the instructor to make other arrangements regarding the completion of that assignment.
Going forward, I strongly encourage you to continue to work with your health care team and suggest that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of term. If you have fallen behind in your studies due to your health or other extenuating circumstances, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline date.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
