I am sorry to have read of the circumstances you have outlined in your petition letter, and I have carefully considered your request to drop LAW 201 and HLTH 230 (F 2022) past the academic deadline due to those circumstances. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your petition.
Sahana, I strongly encourage you continue to work with a health professional and to consider registering with QSAS if ongoing support is required to meet your academic obligations. A QSAS advisor can help you proactively manage the impact of your condition on your academics.
Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your challenges on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I suggest that you carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline or via the petition process is our Academic Consideration protocol. As you know, a student can request consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
