Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: JuWeon Kim
Student Email: 16jwk1@queensu.ca
Course: ECON 262
Term: Winter
Year: 2023
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Junny:
I am sorry to have read of the health-related challenges you experienced during the winter term 2023, and I have carefully considered your request to drop ECON 262 (W 2023) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this petition based on the circumstances you outlined as well as the documentation submitted.
Going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact of challenges on our academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. As you know, a student can request consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in your other courses this term.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
