Dear Shannon:

I am sorry to have read in your petition letter that you have been struggling with health-related challenges, and I have carefully considered your request to drop ENGL 200 (FW 2021/22); ENGL 234, HIST 287, RELS 202, RELS 240 (W 2022); ENGL 281, HIST 283, HIST 295 (F 2022); and RELS 328 (W 2023) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this petition based on the??documentation provided indicating that your medication regiment was being adjusted during this timeframe which made it difficult to be successful in your courses.

Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
