Dear Alejandro:

I am sorry to have read of the extenuating circumstances you outlined in your petition letter, and I have carefully considered your request to drop BCHM 313, BCHM 316, CHEM 222 (W 2022), and BCHM 313, BCHM 216 and ANAT 100 (W 2023) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. You also included a request to drop BCHM 317 (FW 2022/23), but you dropped that course prior to the drop deadline. The NG (no grade) notation related to the Fall term portion of that course remains on your transcript.

I have granted this petition based on your circumstances and since you are working with a strong support team, including Student Wellness Services and QSAS to get your academics and health back on track and I encourage you to continue to utilize those services.

Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
