I am sorry to have read of the circumstances outlined in your petition and I have carefully considered your request to drop CISC 271, CISC 204, CISC 124, CISC 220 (W 2022) and ECON 111, STAT 268 (F 2022) after the drop deadline as well as receive Credit standing in CISC 124 (F 2022). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request to drop CISC 271, CISC 204, CISC 124, CISC 220 (W 2022) based the circumstances outlined and documentation provided.
2. To deny your request to drop ECON 111 and STAT 268 (F 2022) since the circumstances outlined and documentation provided were relevant to Winter term 2022.
3. To deny your request for Credit standing in CISC 124 (F 2022) since the circumstances outlined and documentation provided were relevant to Winter term 2022.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course and demonstrated that the learning outcomes were achieved, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower.?
Going forward, let me remind you that it is the student??s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Another tool to manage your academics is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:
