I have reviewed your petition to drop DEVS 358 (F22), BIOL 350 and GLPH 281 (W23) after the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in DEVS 220 (F22) and for Aegrotat Standing in BIOL 243 (F22). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:
To grant your request to drop DEVS 358 (F22), BIOL 350 and GLPH 281 (W23) after the academic deadline due to the severity and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation you supplied. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a ?DR?? notation on your transcript.
To grant your request for Credit Standing in DEVS 220 (F22) due to the support that we??ve received from your instructor and the information provided within the documentation that you supplied. Your grade in this course will be replaced with a ?CR?? notation on your transcript.
To deny your request for Aegrotat Standing in BIOL 243 (F22). Academic Petition and Appeal Regulation 3.3.1.3 states that, Aegrotat standing is reserved for a course in which a student who, because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, is unable to complete all the work of the class. At least 60 per cent of the work to be evaluated in the class (assignments, midterms, laboratories, final examination, as specified in the class syllabus) must be completed?as part of the petition decision process, the instructor must assert that the student has met all of the course learning outcomes.? While I acknowledge that you experienced extenuating circumstances during the 2022 Fall term, I have denied this request as we did not receive support from the instructor of this course and according to the information supplied by the Department of Biology related to your individual grades, it is not clear whether you had met the learning outcomes based on the components that you were able to complete.
I am sympathetic to your situation and understand that this is a disappointing decision and am willing to allow you to drop BIOL 243 (F22) after the academic deadline due to the severity and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation you supplied.
