I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission, and have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline and grant your request to drop COGS 100 (F 2013), GPHY 102, MUSC 102 and PSYC 100B (W 2014) past the academic deadline.
As a result of this decision, the €œRequired to Withdraw, Waived€ ruling from Winter 2014 will be removed. Your academic record has been reassessed but unfortunately your current GPA is 0.44, which means that the €œRequired to Withdraw for a Minimum of Three Years€ ruling will be removed but it will be replaced with the ruling €œRequired to Withdraw for One Year€. If you wish to appeal to drop your failed courses from this current academic year and/or waive this requirement to withdraw, you have until June 16 to do so.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
