I am sorry to have read of the challenges you outlined in your petition letter, and I have carefully considered your request to change the grades you received in MATH 121 (FW 2022/23) and GPHY 102 (W 2023) to Credit standing. After reviewing the circumstances outlined and the documentation submitted, as well as the information supplied by the instructors about the learning outcomes achieved in these courses, I have decided to grant your appeal.
Your grades in MATH 121 (FW 2022/23) and GPHY 102 (W 2023) will appear on your transcript as CR.
Gabriel, I encourage you to follow through with your plan to continue to work with your psychologist as well as work more closely with Deb Bruce at Student Accessibility Services. Going forward, I suggest that you carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
