Dear Nahira:

I was sorry to read of the circumstances outlined in your petition letter and I have carefully reviewed your request to change the grades you received in DEVS 200, DEVS 230 and LAW 201 (F 2022) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted, and the information supplied by the instructors about the learning outcomes achieved and course deliverables completed, I have decided to grant your appeal.

The instructors have submitted replacement grades based on the work you have completed as follows:

DEVS 200 (F 2022) will appear on your transcript with a grade of B+ along with the notation “Aegrotat: estimated grade”.

DEVS 230 (F 2022) will appear on your transcript with a grade of A- along with the notation “Aegrotat: estimated grade”.

LAW 201 (F 2022) will appear on your transcript with a grade of A+ along with the notation “Aegrotat: estimated grade”.

I encourage you to continue to seek support from your health care team and suggest that if you are not currently registered with QSAS, you discuss that option with your psychiatrist since a QSAS Advisor who can help you manage both your health and academics.

Going forward, I recommend that you pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and to drop courses if necessary, by the drop deadlines. The drop deadlines, as outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I was pleased to see that you took some time away from your studies Nahira and will look forward to your return to your studies when you are feeling better.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
