Dear Ms. Portelance:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHIL 170 (W 2013), ENGL 340B (W 2014) and ENGL 441 (F 2014) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have also considered your request to complete the final requirements for your Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree with a Major concentration in English Language and Literature via a letter of permission from another University closer to your home town. Unfortunately, I must deny this request.

According to Academic Regulation 14.4, to be eligible to apply for a letter of permission to take courses in year three or four of an Honours Plan, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 1.90 and must have written support from their home Department. Even after these courses are dropped, your GPA will remain at 1.76 which is too low to be eligible to apply for the LOP. Your Plan (ENGL) GPA is also currently at 1.76, which is too low to graduate with an Honours degree (any courses taken on an LOP are applied as transfer credits and are not counted toward the GPA; therefore, they cannot help to raise your GPA to the minimum 1.90 needed to graduate).

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
