Student Name: Trevor Sokolowski

Course: PHYS 216
Term: Winter
Year: 2022
Category: Request credit (CR) standing in a course or courses
Instructor: Sarah Sadavoy
Dear Trevor,
As part of the standard process when appealing to the Board of Studies, the Associate Dean (Academic) reviews your appeal submission. I have carefully considered your appeal for credit standing in PHYS 216 (winter 2022), and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I reviewed the new documentation from your QSAS advisor. Although this document asserts that the extenuating circumstances started prior to the drop date, you did not connect with supports until the middle of the exam period. This document helps me to see impact and timeline. I do think that efforts were made to support you via Consideration and reweighting of assignments; however, I am prepared to be lenient and to grant this petition for Credit standing in this course.
Going forward, I recommend that you pause and evaluate your courses during week 7 of each term, and if need be, drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
Please allow 7-10 business days for your records to be updated.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
