Dear Nelly,
I have reviewed the new documentation in your appeal for PSYC 236, PSYC 336, and PSYC 337 and PSYC 241 (Fall 2022), BIOL 102, CISC 181 (Summer 2022). The letter from your counsellor was persuasive in indicating that the extenuating experiences that affected your academic performance were episodic and that you were able to complete some assignments in some courses and not others during the affected timeframe. For this reason, I have decided to amend my original decision and grant credit standing in PSYC 236 (F22), PSYC 336 (F22), and PSYC 337 (F22).
With regard to the other courses, they are unfortunately ineligible for credit standing according to the FAS regulations. Academic Petitions and Appeals regulation 3.3.1.4 – To Request Credit (CR) Standing in a Course states:
Credit standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected.
From the notes provided by the course instructors, it is evident to me that there are significant components in BIOL 102 (20%), CISC 181 (16.6%) and PSYC 241 (9%) that were not completed.
