Course: CLST 205
Term: Summer
Year: 2023
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Dillon,

I have reviewed your petition to drop CLST 205 (S23) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your grade in this course will be replaced with a ‘DR’ notation on your transcript.

I recognized that you reduced your Summer term course load in May and I have granted this request due to the ongoing academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation you supplied.

Going forward, I want you to know that the petition process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. It is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
